Out here we are remote and we do not have mobile telephone service. Instead, we rely on a radio telephone and satellite internet for data.
For a couple of days our radio phone has been 'playing up'. The photo above is of a Telstra Remote Area Service technician, fixing our problem at the solar powered tower control panel. This is a big job as we had to engage the 4 wheel drive just to get from the camp to the tower! Before this, our technician had to travel 5 hours one way to get to us ... and then 5 hours back to base! So many thanks to the Telstra Remote Service Team. I am sure that our city counterparts would be envious of this type of service!
